Advances in Optical Biosensing Technologies

Open Workshop of the BILOBA project

Roma, Italy, September 23rd 2015
SAPIENZA Università di Roma, Roma, Italy
Civil and Industrial Engineering Faculty

Topics and Scope

Advances in Optical Biosensing Technologies is a one-day workshop focused on the latest advances and applications of optical biosensing technologies in life sciences. It aims at bringing together the technology inventors and providers and the end-users. The open workshop is one of the communication and dissemination activities of the BILOBA Project.

The meeting will review the considerable progress in the field and provide information on the most practical emerging techniques. This is a chance for optical sensing techniques users everywhere to glimpse the latest applications and to help shape the future of research in their field.

It is a LightTalk - The Power of Photonics

The BILOBA Workshop is one of the LightTalks - The Power of Photonics organized by the  LIGHT2015 and GoPhoton projects during the weekend of Light (Sept 25-28 2015) to promote the importance of photonics to young people, entrepreneurs and the general public in Europe during the International Year of Light. Watch the LIGHT2015 video on YouTube to discover the Power of Photonics.

The LightTalks-The Power of Photonics are aimed at and designed in collaboration with industry. In the LIGHTtalks event, industrial representatives are asked to speak about specific industry priorities and opportunities within the particular regional environment where the LIGHTtalks event is taking place. The talks focus on the industrial applications of photonics, looking to awake the curiosity of companies that could benefit from photonics, but who do not currently employ photonic technologies yet.

How to reach the Workshop Site.

Program

A series of invited lectures from leaders in the field will be complemented by poster presentations. Two round tables will be organized at the end of the morning and afternoon sessions to foster the interaction between the technology providers and the end-users. Instrument suppliers will be invited to take part to the commercial exhibition of the NanoItaly Forum that will host the workshop.

The language of the workshop is English.

Program (Updated September 16th)

The program will be complemented by a session of the NanoItaly 2015 Forum devoted to NanoBioPhotonics. The session will be held on the afternoon of september 22nd 2015 from 4:30pm to 6:00pm. Participants to the BILOBA open workshop can attend freely the NanoBioPhotonics Session (and also all other session of the NanoItaly 2015 Forum).

Registration

The participation to the workshop is free of charge. Pre-registration is however necessary to take part to the meeting. Please visit the NanoItaly 2015 Registration Section and pre-register. When getting at the BILOBA Open Workshop you'll find at the registration desk your badge and your conference material.

Abstract Submission for Poster  Presentations

Participants to the workshop can submit abstracts for poster presentations. A limited number of poster contributions will be accepted. The poster presenters will make use of the boards provided by NanoItaly 2015 (80cm width, 100cm height format). Posters must be hung on Wednesday september 23rd before 10.00 and removed at the end of the workshop.

Communication of the acceptance of poster contributions will be given by September 12th

2015.

Workshop Proceedings

Selected papers related to the invited and poster contributions will be published on a special issue of the AIP Conference Proceedings dedicated to NanoItaly 2015. AIP Conference Procedings is a widely indexed open access publication. The publication costs will be 250-300 euro/paper, depending on number of pages. The deadline for submission of manuscripts is December 2015. The template for AIP Conference Proceedings will be soon available.
